I haven't listened to the show yet, but the bit about McLovin in the show notes is hilarious! I love the picture of the campaign buttons, too!

It's like the resale ninja. Given up the tools of the trade...

If you're really going into china, etc. you should look for one of the mini black lights to help show cracks/repairs...

Once again, thrilled with the show. I only wish it were longer/more often. I am so going to miss Croncast.

A couple of questions for Betsy (maybe you can answer them in a future show?):
1. Do you thrift for stuff for yourself/your family, or only for resale?
2. Where do you think the best thrifting is found (garage sales vs. Goodwill vs. auctions, etc.).
3. How much does the mark-up on something need to be to make it worth trying to resell?
4. How do you handle the post office and those hassles? Do you have a system?

Thanks!

Grace

uh, guess I should listen to the entire thing before posting comments. I stopped about 30 seconds before the blacklight bit, had a few beers, then posted a comment. Only to find out when I listened to the rest, it was covered (in depth). Bah...

Hey Betsy,
There is big controversy on the Net about the change in fees and feedback rules on eBay. There is even a strike of eBayers that is being pushed for on Feb 18-25.
Here is an interesting article with very good comments below the main article. Would love hear your take on it, especially the feedback rules change.

Fan of the show,
Mario

Love the show! I have to admit that I don't resale at all and probably never will...but I enjoy listening to the humorous stories and tricks of the trade. I listened to the bit about the "resale kit" and realized that most garage sale operators must think you're nutzo! :D I can see them sitting their in their lawn chair (with the ropes of the chair cutting into their backs) looking at you as you pull out your screwdrivers, batteries, and black light before purchasing their items with exact change. :D But hey, it's a living! Keep up the good work and keep pumping out the hilarious comments!
