Well I know I said I was going to hold onto a few of my Mumble Penguins as an investment, but I couldn't resist. I sold all 9 that I had bought.
Total investment = $198 Sold for avg price of $49.99 Total Sales = $397.92 Profit Before Ebay & Paypal Fees = $199.92
I have to say it was a great experience- easy to write the listing and just had to hit relist.
The whole experience got me thinking....perhaps I have been sniffing at the wrong dumpster.
Perhaps there is more cash to be made at the mall than the resale shop.
Wouldn't you know it Build a Bear came into some more Mumbles right after Christmas.

Now when I am walking up your driveway, you should welcome me with open arms.
There aren't too many occasions in life when people come to your house to hand you money.
OK so your garage sale ad says 9-2, and I was there at 6:30 but the early bird catches the.... and I've got cash.
Don't try to make me feel like I should be honored to set foot on your blacktop. I have a college education- I just choose to dumpster dive- I could totally go get a job tomorrow. OK so I would be hawking rental upgrades at Enterprise- but I'm not a total loser.

Buenos Dias from the resale queen, Betsy Smith- you may know me from my long run as star of Croncast, a podcast my husband forces me to do 3 times a week. Kris- thats the other half of Croncast and my man of la mancha had the brilliant idea of building this nifty site for me.
I have been selling on Ebay for 6 years. That's 6 years of dumpster diving, Goodwill hunting and garage saleing.
Everybody thinks its nifty to buy something for 50 cents and sell it for 50 bucks, and Ebay has become the stay at home mommy home biz of the new millenium- kind of like catering and real estate was back in the 80s. While selling on Ebay is fairly straightforward, the difficult part is knowing what sells and for how much. This is where the hard work comes in. If you like to stay up until 1am bleary eyed reading completed Care Bear auctions in order of highest to lowest price- then join me compadre as we venture forth on the journey to turn garbage into gold.
As an added bonus Ebay has set up a system to allow click throughs to related auctions as well as links to become a member if there is anyone left on the planet who does not have an Ebay user ID. I will be adding keywords from my topic du jour which will bring links of Ebay merchandise auctions to this site, so please click. . . (read post) |
