I'm sorry. Kris had the brilliant idea of setting the RSS feed to send out every listing I put up on Ebay. I had him change that this morning. Not everyone considers a vintage Zummi Gummi Bear plush on Ebay an event worthy of their immediate attention.
Sorry for the interruptions and back to regular programming.

| The Queen VS The Purse Nazi/Boss Hog Tag Team

Added on 02/26/07 by Betsy
Last month I told you guys about my awesome and totally unnovel idea of selling outlet deals on Ebay with my sister/apprentice.
We decided the first order of business was to go to the Coach, Dooney, and Kate Spade outlets and see what was out there and if the stuff was cheap enough to make out flipping it.
Our plan was to lull the babies into a carb induced mellow with a case of goldfish crackers.
Unfortunately, our outlet is outdoors, totally stupid in Chicago. We were prepared though - thick coats, baby snowsuits, blankets, double stroller, plus single stroller, diaper bags, pallet of Pepperidge Farm crackers and we were ready to rock.
First we went to Coach Outlet.
We went through the clearance shelves and looked at every single purse.
Soon we realized there was no way to remember the name of every style and how much it was so I had the brilliant idea of text messaging myself the names, prices and discount of the items that seemed good.
Next we schluffed over to Dooney.
That's when we met her . . . The purse Nazi.
She runs the Dooney outlet like a 7-11 next door to a Junior High.
Grumpy and bitchy- acted like she was doing us the biggest favor in the world by doing a price check and staring at us the whole time.
We just ignored her and did the same thing as we did at Coach-. . . (read post) |

So this is my newest idea . . .
I go to the outlet and buy one Kate Spade/Dooney/Coach bag/wallet dealie for say $90 sell it for say $130.
I then take this $130 and return to the outlets, buy 2 $65 purses and sell those for say $100 each.
My new experiment is call Michiganavebags and I am going to join forces with my sister/apprentice Vicky.
It should work out since our children take turns being ill.
So Wednesday I can go to the post office because Vicky is being puked on. Then Thursday she can run to the outlet while I stay home being pooped on.
Tell me this is not a million dollar idea.
I need $7000 to remodel a rotten bathroom and this way it should just cost me $90.

This is a somewhat slower time of year on Ebay for me since toys are my mainstay. I am going to venture forth into a new realm, one quite popular with the Ebay mommy who think Goodwill is gross: the outlet mall.
I have been advised this time of year is great for reselling outlet stuff - the inventory is high since unsold Christmas items are shipped in and prices are low since the holidays are over.
My source also tells me ladies are on the prowl for the gifts they wanted and didn't get - like a $250 wallet for $120.
See you at the outlets! (read post) |

If you are looking for a way to get hooked up with merchandise to sell on Ebay, consider buying returns, samples and unsold merchandise from home shopping networks.
They have a large and devoted fan based so even their house brand clothing sells well on Ebay. They also carry a lot of brands like Dooney, Dyson, and Birkenstock which have the recognition to draw searches on Ebay.
What's the catch? Often you have to purchase an entire pallet. This not only may make your neighbors curious, but also costs a bit of cash.
The amount you pay is based on a percentage of the retail of the pallet. Different departments sell for different percentages, jewelry sells for much higher a percentage than clothing for instance.
If you are interested contact the station's home office and tell them you are interested in purchasing their returns, they will direct you to the person who handles that.
Just do your research on the brands they carry and what that is worth in the completeds on Ebay.

| How to Avoid Selling Fake Purses

You will know from previous posts that I always advocate to sell what you know.
This is especially true for designer purses.
There is a resurgence of label obsession going on currently.
The trick is to avoid selling knock offs- if you think you can pull this off not only is that a criminal thought you most likely will not get away with it.
Ebay will pull your auction which means end it and they won't refund your insertion fee.
Both manufacturers and other sellers patrol the Ebay pages looking for fakes so don't even bother.
This is what I have learned about selling different brands.
#1 Outlets- A lot of Ebay sellers who exclusively sell one brand like Coach are just going to a Coach outlet store and buying the sale or clearance stuff- often to prove authenticity they include the sales receipt and the box in the pic. Outlet boxes are red- retail boxes are brown.
I have asked at the Outlet and I have been told by management that outlet purses are quality wise equivalent to regular retail bags.
However that said all outlet bags are marked with a stamped O or X or other letter on or near the Coach creed and serial number.
Also years ago I bought such a bag at a resale shop and called a Coach store to ask about the mark- they told me that the Coach factory has opened it's warehouse from time. . . (read post) |

Well we are on our way to the Pumpkin farm today.
The whole posse is going. Which includes my greedy sister-assistant. Needless to say, the Dooney did not sell and for the rest of my life I have to stare at that bag hanging off her target t-shirt shoulder and think about the one that got away.
Going to Goodwill later will give update.

There it was all aglow in the Goodwill good stuff locked case.
The most lovely Dooney tote I have ever seen. Perfect condition. Perfect price $29.99- and authentic.
I take it to the register thinking, "Great I listed some stuff Buy it Now I have got to have this much Paypal cash."
Denied. Thankfully, credit cards get declined right and left at Goodwill so it's not too embarrassing.
But I can't let this one go. This is the most perfect Dooney I have ever seen used.
Unfortunately, I had brought my sister along for training. Being immediately behind me in line she swooped it up.
"You may not buy that," that's what I told her.
"I am and I am going to keep it."
"You can't keep nice things, if you do that how are you ever going to make money on Ebay."-I'm telling you people she may not have this in her blood.-You have to list it.
"Fine I will and if it doesn't sell. I am keeping it."
People if she keeps this purse and wears it every day. I will have to stare in the face one of the saddest moments in my professional career.
So. . . (read post) |
